The Vitamin C Challenge
Vitamin C is often regarded as a wrinkle fighter or an anti-aging agent. The main objective of Vitamin C in skin care is to increase the synthesis of collagen (a structural protein that is found in skin). The additional benefit of adding Vitamin C to your skin care regime is related to its capability of countering free radicals that cause damage to the skin.
There’s a major challenge with using Vitamin C, however, because it readily oxidizes with exposed to air or other oxidizing agents. Once oxidized, the product because useless; in fact, it becomes counter-effective. After you purchase a skin care product that contains Vitamin C, store it properly. Do not leave the top off of the product for a prolonged period of time, and check before using that it has not attained a yellowish-brown color and is still good to use. Using "bad" Vitamin C products may cause more harm than good!
