6 Tricks to Youthful Skin that You Must Do Today!

Anti-aging products are designed to prevent the appearance of getting older. Most skin care products are designed to address certain signs of aging, while other products prevent them. Taking anti-aging and preventative aging measures should be a focus for everyone, regardless to gender, age, or skin type; however, there are several small things that we can do to reduce the rate at which we age.

We begin the aging process just as soon as we pop out of the womb. Every day of our lives our bodies slough off and regenerate new cells. The speed at which that process takes place when we are children is vastly different, as we get older.

Here are some of our favorite beauty tips for keeping your skin fresh:

1: Stay hydrated and by drinking plenty of water!

Soda, caffeine or any other type of liquid, even if it is “low cal” accelerates the aging process. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day! If you are in or beyond pre-aging stage, consider applying topical hydrants, such as Hyaluronic Acid (HA), to the under eye area such as Dab to Hydrate, Dab to Illuminate, Dab to Nourish, Dab for Youthfulness, Dab to Firm, Dab to Maximize, and Dab to Clear, which are excellent sources of HA. The under eye skin is super thin and will be the first area to show signs of aging. Applying HA to the under eye will the skin of that area looking supple and young.

In your late 20s to mid-30s, you enter a stage known as pre-aging. At this stage, you may start to notice lines around your eyes and mouth, or dark spots from sun damage. The “pre-aging” stage is a very important time to adopt and effective skin care regime and find the right products. Beyond that stage, a good skin care regime is imperative to youthful, healthy skin.

2: Protect your skin from harmful ultra violet (UV) rays.

We all love the sun. The warmth from the sun makes us feel happy and relaxed. But the truth is you can poison yourself with too much sunshine. UV rays cause skin cancer and if that is not bad enough it causes your skin to age faster than it should, contributing to unsightly wrinkles.

If you must play in the sun, make certain you are using an adequate sunscreen. It is recommended to hourly apply a SPF of at least 30 or higher. Do not leave home without it!

3: Keep your skin clean.

Twice per day, use a soft warm cloth and wash your skin with a gentle cleanser that contains 2% salicylic acid. This ingredient will also help to keep the pores clean and less visible. If you suffer from oily skin, unsightly blemishes, or acne breakouts, other ingredients such as Tea Tree Oil, should also be considered.

A mild scrub once per week will assist with the removal of old, dull skin. By exfoliating and exposing fresh, vibrant, new skin, you appear younger and healthier. Do not over exfoliate! Unnecessarily scrubbing your skin may cause more harm than good.

4: Eat healthy and exercise.

Bad eating habits wreak havoc on the blood vessels, heart, and other organs and what goes on in the inside of your body will eventually show on the outside. Living a healthy lifestyle is a very important way to slow the signs of aging!

The antioxidants in colorful vegetables and fruits, such as leafy greens, deep red tomatoes, blueberries, and carrots, help stop unstable molecules from damaging healthy cells. So at each meal, fill about half your plate with fruits and vegetables. Your goal should be five to nine servings a day.

A healthy anti-aging diet that contains three servings of whole grains, such as oats, quinoa, barley, wheat, and brown rice, to keep blood vessels in peak condition, two servings a week of fatty fish such as salmon, lake trout, or tuna to help protect your heart, and about 1/4 of an ounce a day of nuts to reduce the risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Finally, eating foods that are fortified with calcium and vitamin D will keep your cholesterol levels in check, making you less likely to get heart disease.

As a general rule, do not go one single day without doing something extra and physical for at least 30 minutes per day. This can be broken down into 3 ten- minute walks that elevate your heart rate. Or 30 minutes of vigorous aerobics, or 12 minutes of weight lifting and 18 minutes of walking. Find activities that you enjoy doing and do it!

5: Have sex.

According to a recent study by Dr. David Weeks psychology at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, a healthy sex life can be, the former head of old age extremely beneficial in looking younger. The study entailed asking male and female subjects about their sex lives and the results were that men and women, alike, reaped the benefits of having a healthy sex life. One of the more surprising findings is that men and women can look between five and seven years younger if they have a healthy sex life. Specifically, the subjects that looked younger than their age claimed to have sex 50 percent more than their peers who did not.

6: Don't worry, be happy.

Recent studies show happier people are healthier people. It seems that being “happy” may be a prerequisite for a thriving, healthy, energetic life with a more youthful appearance. It appears that a happy outlook appears to trigger the release of endorphins. Endorphins relax the cardiovascular system and cytokines, which alert the immune system to pay attention in detecting abnormalities like cancer cells! 

The bottom line? Whatever is going on inside will eventually show up on the outside. Honor yourself and the skin you were born in by taking the best care of yourself that you can. You deserve it!
